Forgotten Heroes

26th July was a very ordinary day for all of us. We must have spent the day sitting in our home watching movies or going to some amusement park. But for many people it is the same day when there life was changed forever ten years back.
26th July2009 marks the tenth anniversary of our victory over Pakistani intruders in Kargil war. But how many still even remember the sacrifices made by our jawans. Those peoples have given their life so that they can protect us, our country and our democracy. But by doing nothing for our country we are simply forgetting them. They did not wanted a lot of money or lot opportunities. And after dying they don't want any memorials built for them. They only wanted to see their country and countrymen living happily. But are we doing any of those for which they have given up their lives. I don't think that remembering just means lighting candles signings songs etc. But remembering means doing whatever they wanted us to do. Then only there holy souls can rest in peace.
I ask all you not to just plant that tricolour on this Independence Day. Sing few songs and then forget it for the rest of 364 days. Salute that tricolour only if you understand what the importance of it. How many have peoples died more than 60 years ago so that it can flutter in free air. And still today how many people are giving their lives so that our great nation and live and live on forever.
The responsibility to make India the best country in the have been given to us by these great peoples to us. We have to accept our responsibility towards our country. If at some point our country fails then we all have the responsibility to correct it. By passing blame to a politician we are in reality hide our own mistakes. In democracy the country is run by the people. So celebrate this Independence Day trying to accept your responsibility towards your country in way these martyrs had. Then only could we never forget them.

UnIndianing India

Today our Republic turns 70years. In these year we have raised ourselves from ashes of partition and hate, braved conflicts internal and external. Yet we have carried on as a republic for so long, because we stayed true to the ideals of our founding fathers. The ideas that shaped our struggle against a colonist, against the communalists. But very often did our republic find itself at the verge and it seemed the dreams that freedom fighters saw for our free nation might be too much. Last few months if not years have been like that as well. When we seem to be turning our backs to the principles that defined our country. Principles of unity in diversity. Where so many people from so many different part regions, religions speak so many languages, can live and thrive together. Where different ideas from anywhere is not frowned upon. Where one does not have to fear to speak his/her minds out. Where people from different places and religions were welcomed not just as guests but as God...
