My Climate Buddies – Part 1

On 21st of June 2010, 9 young and intelligent students in and around Kolkata were selected by British Council as International Climate Champion 2010 after a hard selection process. They became the part of the Eastern Zone of climate champs. And also a very special zone of my heart. I was also one of them and the only one to be living in the suburbs of Kolkata. In last three years of ICC never before have so many Climate Champs been selected from Kolkata. Though our numbers were large still we all were so close, sorry are close. I still remember how I was counting days for the 6th July when we all were going to meet for the first time. It was such nice time we all had. Even before they knew each other all got to know me. It was such a nice time I had planning the trip to Delhi for every one. Unfortunately Shreenita Di left us for her higher studies but still you were all there. Well lets start the story of the journey from the day one.
Well as usual I reached the BC first. But then came the phone of Sandeep da that he won't be able to make it to BC. And then I came to know that Souran Da won't be there because of his exams. Then we all met for the first time. I mistook Tullika Di for Purbani di but then it was all right. The best shocker was by Amitava the guy with whom I was dying to meet. He looked totally different from his FB profile pic. And finally Late latif Arup Da. Oh sorry I forgot Bipashyee di. Our cute little peppy didi hyper on everything. Haha. Well Amitava took my youngest Indian Climate Champ tag that day. And off course Ayan Da all of ours guide and mentor. (Miss you a lot)
So then was the Delhi Trip Where Arup was just going to kill me. He came after the train timing. OMG it was awful experience. But the journey was nice I found out I have forgot to bring my brush. Then Shreenita Di's clean and easy tea Making tip made our life easy. She was such nice didi to me I miss you lot and your Babu stuff too :-(. Then Arup da who is so great not like all the typical engineer type. So nice to talk to and so helpful. Purbani di and Tullika Di both seems to be opposite one is so active and another is so dormant. But they have one thing in common they have always been like my elder sis. And they are so sweet and nice. Then Sandeep da comes into action rather hyper action and over cautious in every thing. And also a girl thrower. Still very simple and nice guy to hang out with. Suddenly comes Bipashyee di who is like cyclone. Gets everything done and gone with the wind. Just as serious as if not more serious than me. I really like the way she works. After that comes my Souran Da with whom I seems to have been working more than any one else. He is fun loving cracks jokes now and then sometimes passes over my head. And then he is more intelligent than every one thinks him to be. Very professional and passionate about work and plastics. But thing to remember is he is not at all plastic. Only problem he have had while working with was G****h. LOL
Ok now only one to go and you all must have been waiting for this. Well he is the one who is of my age not any da or di. A guy for there was a space in my heart even before we met. Missed through out the Delhi Trip. Perhaps the one who could have saved me a bit from the leg pulling sessions of my dadas and didis. We both seem to be have so many commonalities still think each other wrong for some silly reason. Someone after meeting whom that I also have a competitor. Though have been reported to be found in nature as Mr.Serious I have never found him to be serious for which I pray to God. But He is fun loving, sometimes a bit lazy and very mischievous and an Indophile all just like me. And a would be very good friend of mine I know that.
All of you guys I want to thank you today for making my life so happy and full of colours which are bright and not dull. Taught me a lot of things. All the time spend with you are like a gift of God. I miss you all a lot.
NB. I have already written about Ayan Da in another post and I will Write about Radhika Di in Separate post soon.

Destination Moon - Pallava Bagla, Subhadra Menon

In 2008 Indian Flag was planted on lunar soil. But how did Indian reached their? What started with sending sounding rockets for the benefit of the newly formed developing country ended up being the leading space programme in the world? It gives all the details on how the Indian Space Programme evolved. Starting literally from scratch, and fight foreign embargoes and technology denial regimes it evolved in to country’s if not world finest institution. It shows how it started under the visionaries like Vikram Sarbai, Homi Bhaba, and the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, and was subsequently supported by different governments. Back Stabbed 1

I don’t know but it seems that India has a long and still lasting tradition of being stabbed by those people whom India helps. “30th October a day t5hat will live in infamy”. Perhaps this is what FDR would have if he could be our President or perhaps not. Pearl Harbour attack or 9/11 attack on US have happened once in sixty years. But here in India not even six days passes without someone stabbing our nation in its heart, whether they are terrorists, anti-socials or even so-called civilised people. India is been constantly butchered to pieces uncountable. Perhaps these incident happens so occasionally that our honourable PM and President have to appoint all the Booker Prize winners. (I really meat that, the number is very large now.) From last few months the numbers of bomb blasts are increasing and those bad guys have made whole India what Jammu and Kashmir was few years back. I think we are behind these blasts and all. Firstly we can’t elect a responsible government to run world’s ...
