“At the stroke of the midnight hour when the world sleeps India will wake into a new life and freedom”. These were the words which started a new era in world history. It created our very own great nation India and two similarly great nations on world’s map. (Well I am not going to give any history or geography lessons. So go ahead and read on. It is important coz it is the title of my blog. And my first blog is a bit related to it). But world never knew about those pieces which were remnants of millions of the shattered hearts of people residing in these broken countries. The broken heart which people carried with them made forget the definition of friends and friendship. But now the time have changed. We can’t live as our grand dad and dads have lived. With our young heart, passion and energy to do something new, can’t we remember what friendship is? Will we also foolishly maintain the same legacy of hate and distrust with our neighbours? But somewhere around a voice comes to me and says “No. the times are changing”.
Yes it is about Indo-Pak relations. Can’t we change? Can’t we bring down the invisible wall separating us? Can’t we start a new era?
Well you must be thinking why a 17 year old boy is talking about such a topic leaving what is of general interest, like cars, bikes, girls and my favourite aircrafts etc. and even on the eve of independence day why I not giving a good patriotic lecture on India (which mostly have to be anti-Pak, to be complete). Well there are two reasons for it.
First, few weeks ago I suffered from viral fever. But how viral fever is related to friends? Well before going to the sickbed. I was behaving very rudely with them. I have just taken them for granted. So the result was no one called me up when I was lying on the bed and waiting for there phone. I felt so lonely in those days only my family (papa, mummy, rima) helped me. I did correct my mistakes. Now I am happy again with my friends and family. They are my real friends so they did accept my sorry. I don’t think I was India or Pakistan which stated the rift. But it the mistake of both sides equally. After all “Ek hath se talli nahin bajti”. We can’t clap with one hand. Second reason is, I think I am a modern Indian and I don’t like giving lecture by manipulating facts and not sticking to own words in real life. But I do love my country and my roots. And I am very proud to be an Indian. But loving my country doesn’t means hitting another. We are Indian and we are always taught by our ancestors to live peacefully with others. So why should we fight with our neighbours. They are just like us (Sometimes I can’t differentiate in photograph on web who Pakistani and who is Indian. They watch our movies. We love to listen to there singers. On both side we bite nails, when our cricket teams are on the ground together. Even they are premiering there films in our country. Probably in friendship they are taking the lead but why we are lagging behind. We got to win this match. So those who want to win this match log on to following websites, http://www.indo-pak.org/ or http://www.friendswithoutboders.org/. Well I don’t to losers. But making friends in neighbour countries won’t do. Your friendship should be strong whether your friend is from same country or live next door. You should not make any friends for any selfish reasons but he/she should be whom you love, respect, share not only good time but also blues. Never take them for granted. Try to make bit distance between you and your friend. As you can’t eat every thing sweet a pinch of salt is needed to make every thing taste full. Well these are a bit old principles of friendship but they are working well and good today too. If you are going to maintain this then your life is surely gonna be filled with happiness and friends.
So bye now hope I will come back soon. But I will be looking for your comments. Whether good or bad after all I want to make you my friend.
Abhishek
I liked the idea given by Sulakshana. Why should we all work separately and not together? After all, all of ours projects are related to climate change. We are just tackling it through different fronts. Someone is working for green building, someone in climate finance, someone in awareness etc. But my project has got best of all the worlds. So surely need the help of all you guys out there. But then the one of our Martian Mr. Raghav’s worry is very correct. What I think we should do is we should simply write about what we are doing and let the help flow in. All the things which Raghav says are true and practical. But then we have to make our project impactful. And this work cannot be done alone for sure. So we should focus our energy at not more than ten projects at a time. But surely we can pass suggestions and all to others. For example we in East Zone more precisely ICCs in and around Kolkata have 4 waste management projects so we are doing it together. I also have a waste managemen...
