HEROES

Sameer Suri aka Saand and Ali Shah aka Nawab Saab are two film college students. Nawab Saab and Saand both fail to get there graduation certificate. They are told by there Principal to submit a film to get there graduation certificate. They decide to make a film on why not to join Indian Army. They meet a war reporter Akaash. He gives them three last letters of three Indian Army soldiers who have died in 1999 Kargil war. He advises them to deliver them and record the three families’ experiences. Now they begin a journey to deliver the letters to there destinations. The journey changes everything in there life. And they truly become an Indian.
The film is really great a very simple story and also the way to tell that. The film unlike other patriotic films, makes you love your country but don’t make you hate some other country. (You now which country everyone makes us hate about). Even it clearly show the kind of difference India and Pakistan has. That is just a line drawn by few horrible people and by horrible time. Preity Zeita looks great as a villager and she speaks great Punjabi too. But Salmaan Khan looks awful. There is lot of action though there are very little war scenes after all Sunny Deol’s presence is felt. A bit of comedy and lot of drama. But my suggestion is get a bucket because there are many rondu scenes and I hope you gonna cry for sure too.

Together we can

I liked the idea given by Sulakshana. Why should we all work separately and not together? After all, all of ours projects are related to climate change. We are just tackling it through different fronts. Someone is working for green building, someone in climate finance, someone in awareness etc. But my project has got best of all the worlds. So surely need the help of all you guys out there. But then the one of our Martian Mr. Raghav’s worry is very correct. What I think we should do is we should simply write about what we are doing and let the help flow in. All the things which Raghav says are true and practical. But then we have to make our project impactful. And this work cannot be done alone for sure. So we should focus our energy at not more than ten projects at a time. But surely we can pass suggestions and all to others. For example we in East Zone more precisely ICCs in and around Kolkata have 4 waste management projects so we are doing it together. I also have a waste managemen...

UnIndianing India

Today our Republic turns 70years. In these year we have raised ourselves from ashes of partition and hate, braved conflicts internal and external. Yet we have carried on as a republic for so long, because we stayed true to the ideals of our founding fathers. The ideas that shaped our struggle against a colonist, against the communalists. But very often did our republic find itself at the verge and it seemed the dreams that freedom fighters saw for our free nation might be too much. Last few months if not years have been like that as well. When we seem to be turning our backs to the principles that defined our country. Principles of unity in diversity. Where so many people from so many different part regions, religions speak so many languages, can live and thrive together. Where different ideas from anywhere is not frowned upon. Where one does not have to fear to speak his/her minds out. Where people from different places and religions were welcomed not just as guests but as God...

The Placement Season

Almost an year ago it was the same time of the year when most of us were at our peak of nervousness. We were job hunting madly. It was a mad house. Class notes were replaced by job details and then by SOPs. We all did end up getting jobs though. Infact half of us got job in the very first day. Which for many turned out to be a disaster. What I learned in this whole year was we do lot of things just based on peer pressure and want to conform to the social norms. Higher package, bigger brand the better. And in all that cacophony we forget to listen to our hearts. Two years in TISS prepares us for many challenges that we would face in future, yet we decide to settle for things simpler and easier. If we put ourselves together we can achieve so much for our country and ourselves yet we fail to realise most of it in time.Yes some do realise it before other do and take that bold step. The fact that I am writing this post thousands of miles away from home in a foreign nations speaks vo...
