Kab Tak

How many more times will we say this that nothing will change? How many times? We all know that our country is changing and it is going in good direction. But still there are things which are bad in our country too like any other in this country. But we have to decide whether to fight for the better this country or to run away from this fight.
Don’t we feel ashamed when we see a child working in a shop? Don’t we feel guilty when we refuse to give alms to a beggar? How many more time will this go on happening? How many more time will we see our country let down by few groups of peoples? How many more times will we choose those lambs for lions like us? Aur kab tak? Ab to needh se jago! Ab to awaaz uthao.
Our country is called to be world’s largest democracy. It is not made this by just few bunches of peoples but it was made so by people like us. It was we who proved to the world that there is nothing stronger than human will. Our forefather wanted liberty and freedom, they fought for it. And today we live in a free country. But today we have somewhat forgotten to fight for our nation. We are more concerned about only ourselves. When India was like this we always had our doors open to the world. Why our minds are so small that we do not want to care about our great nation. Why are we so dumb today that even if hundreds of people die that does not matters much. May be because we have hundreds more to take their place. But can a human life be ever replaced? When will we stop thinking just only for us? Why are we so selfish today than ever? Did our ancestors fought with the mighty empire to give such this country. We have everything still we don’t have anything. Why a people born in India won’t have the same rights and amenities as a person born in US or UK. Who are responsible for this? Who are? We are above all responsible for this.
Today we lack the confidence that our voices won’t be heard. Today we believe that we can’t change this country of ours. The best phrase for this is ‘Is desh ka kuch nahi ho sakta.’ Why can’t we change our country? There are more than a billion of people living in this country. If one of us even does a small bit of our duty towards our country then why can’t our country change?
Ask yourself are you gonna start doing that or are you gonna do what you have done that is nothing. Start today vote for a better country today. Waiting again for five years could be too late. So ask yourself kab tak.

Together we can

I liked the idea given by Sulakshana. Why should we all work separately and not together? After all, all of ours projects are related to climate change. We are just tackling it through different fronts. Someone is working for green building, someone in climate finance, someone in awareness etc. But my project has got best of all the worlds. So surely need the help of all you guys out there. But then the one of our Martian Mr. Raghav’s worry is very correct. What I think we should do is we should simply write about what we are doing and let the help flow in. All the things which Raghav says are true and practical. But then we have to make our project impactful. And this work cannot be done alone for sure. So we should focus our energy at not more than ten projects at a time. But surely we can pass suggestions and all to others. For example we in East Zone more precisely ICCs in and around Kolkata have 4 waste management projects so we are doing it together. I also have a waste managemen...

UnIndianing India

Today our Republic turns 70years. In these year we have raised ourselves from ashes of partition and hate, braved conflicts internal and external. Yet we have carried on as a republic for so long, because we stayed true to the ideals of our founding fathers. The ideas that shaped our struggle against a colonist, against the communalists. But very often did our republic find itself at the verge and it seemed the dreams that freedom fighters saw for our free nation might be too much. Last few months if not years have been like that as well. When we seem to be turning our backs to the principles that defined our country. Principles of unity in diversity. Where so many people from so many different part regions, religions speak so many languages, can live and thrive together. Where different ideas from anywhere is not frowned upon. Where one does not have to fear to speak his/her minds out. Where people from different places and religions were welcomed not just as guests but as God...

The Placement Season

Almost an year ago it was the same time of the year when most of us were at our peak of nervousness. We were job hunting madly. It was a mad house. Class notes were replaced by job details and then by SOPs. We all did end up getting jobs though. Infact half of us got job in the very first day. Which for many turned out to be a disaster. What I learned in this whole year was we do lot of things just based on peer pressure and want to conform to the social norms. Higher package, bigger brand the better. And in all that cacophony we forget to listen to our hearts. Two years in TISS prepares us for many challenges that we would face in future, yet we decide to settle for things simpler and easier. If we put ourselves together we can achieve so much for our country and ourselves yet we fail to realise most of it in time.Yes some do realise it before other do and take that bold step. The fact that I am writing this post thousands of miles away from home in a foreign nations speaks vo...
