Vande Mataram.

This year I heard for the first why should we celebrate 15th August as our Independence Day. Latest such reason came from my very close friend Amitava. Whose reason was very technical one. But I didn't believe him and to counter him I went through technical documents. In short, books on Indian Government and Indian Independence Act 1947. But I the process I have found that our governmental system of which we point so many defects is simply work of the best minds our country have ever produced. And if it has decayed today than it is all because of all of us. I have talked about the same in the last post.
We are failing today because except selected few no one thinks of the country. We are all thinking 24X7 about our self. But at the end of the day we have politicians to blame for all the mistakes we have committed throughout the Day. I have seen how our Municipality put waste bins at regular intervals. But public did not bothered to keep their town clean. We live in a small town. But the story is same in metro city like Kolkata. We are educated enough to point fingers at politicians but not educated enough to put the waste in bins. Now who is responsible. Obviously the politician cos he is ruling this country.
There is a line from the Swades (movie): “We always point fingers on each other. But in reality we all are responsible”. We can serve our great country by doing very small things but doing it together with all our brothers and sisters (ok not all are). When we fought for independence we all fought together every section of the society fought together. But today all are busy doing only their stuff. So I think we should all stop complaining and start working. A great President of a great Country said “Don’t ask what your country can do for you but ask what you can do for your country”

UnIndianing India

Today our Republic turns 70years. In these year we have raised ourselves from ashes of partition and hate, braved conflicts internal and external. Yet we have carried on as a republic for so long, because we stayed true to the ideals of our founding fathers. The ideas that shaped our struggle against a colonist, against the communalists. But very often did our republic find itself at the verge and it seemed the dreams that freedom fighters saw for our free nation might be too much. Last few months if not years have been like that as well. When we seem to be turning our backs to the principles that defined our country. Principles of unity in diversity. Where so many people from so many different part regions, religions speak so many languages, can live and thrive together. Where different ideas from anywhere is not frowned upon. Where one does not have to fear to speak his/her minds out. Where people from different places and religions were welcomed not just as guests but as God...

F.R.I.E.N.D.S - can’t we be……….

“At the stroke of the midnight hour when the world sleeps India will wake into a new life and freedom”. These were the words which started a new era in world history. It created our very own great nation India and two similarly great nations on world’s map. (Well I am not going to give any history or geography lessons. So go ahead and read on. It is important coz it is the title of my blog. And my first blog is a bit related to it). But world never knew about those pieces which were remnants of millions of the shattered hearts of people residing in these broken countries. The broken heart which people carried with them made forget the definition of friends and friendship. But now the time have changed. We can’t live as our grand dad and dads have lived. With our young heart, passion and energy to do something new, can’t we remember what friendship is? Will we also foolishly maintain the same legacy of hate and distrust with our neighbours? But somewhere around a voice comes to me and s...
